Inspired Caring
Brookings Health System Auxiliary is a community organization organized in 1954 to promote an advance the welfare of Brookings Health System and the United Retirement Center through volunteer service and fundraising. 
The Auxiliary is a group of valued members of the community who support the mission of the Brookings Health system with their caring and inspirational work and their continued commitment to patients and residents.
The Auxiliary membership meets the first Monday of each month (except July, August, and September) at the Brookings Health System Conference rooms. Join the Auxiliary today!
The Auxiliary plays an integral role in the Brookings Health System by providing leadership and/or assistance with the following:
- Blood bank Contacting donors to schedule appointments for Blood Donor Day
- Decorations Decorating the buildings on campus for the different seasons
- Employee Appreciation Tea Planning refreshments and decorations
- First Baby of the Year Contacting local businesses regarding donations and presenting gifts to the parents and child.
- First Grade Tours Giving tours of the Hospital to area schools during National Hospital and Nursing Home Week in May.
- Hospital Gift Shop Management of the hospital gift shop.
- Information Desk Staffing information desk at the hospital.
- Library Taking library cart with books and magazines to patient rooms.
- Meals on Wheels Providing meals to community residents that are not able to leave their homes
- Auxiliary Newsletter
- Holiday Gift Shop Bake Sale
- Pop Fund
- Nursing Home Activities Assisting residents of Brookview Manor and United Retirement Center with activities such as bingo, birthday parties, cards, crafts, and games.
- Pediatrics Assembling activity kits and Christmas baby stockings.
- Santa Anonymous Packaging fruit baskets in December and delivering to the needy.
- Scholarships
- Surgical Waiting Room Helping families in the Same-day surgery waiting room area.
- Ways and Means Assisting with fundraising activities of the Auxiliary.
